#483 — Inbox display order

SubjectInbox display order
Message-ID<592b4eb215dave@triffid.co.uk>
G'day folks.
Using Thunderbird 78.10.0 on Win 10 Pro.

I need a bit of advice, please.

Is there a Tb config somewhere that will specify the order in which the
Inbox entries are displayed.

At the moment it's displayed in Alpha order, I would like it displayed in
date order.

?

Thanks

Dave

Don't necessarily expect the setting change to be permanent ...

Like a lot of apps these days, particularly when you take an update and
find your configs have been given a defaults reset. :-(
We call it some rude words...

Doesn't clicking on the column header (marked "Date") toggle the sort
order between ascending and descending?

It does, as do they all, my problem was the first column was Subject and
clicking the column header for that wasn't solving my date problem.

Particularly as "Menubar-View-Sort by" was set to "From" so by default it
was being sorted Alpha on From.

Anyway, it's now working as I require. :-)

Thanks for your thought.
Dave

Nb: Though I do use Tb when in MS-Windows it is my secondary mail client,
so I'm not particularly au fait with it minutia.

My primary mail client works on another OS.

That's one way to do it, but it's not the easiest way. The easy way is
to click on the column header you want to sort on. You can also click
there again to change the sort from ascending to descending, or vice-versa.

By the way, this is not just in Thunderbird. It's a Windows standard and
works the same way in almost every program that displays a list of files.
