In Thunderbird, Settings >> General >> Updates (near the bottom) where the options are: ( ) Automatically install updates ( ) Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them The second option above will notify you but leave you to make the decision to install. BUT... If you are running Linux and your Thunderbird comes from your Linux distro, then updates may be disabled in Thunderbird because updates will be handled by your distro's update manager.
