Hi,

Just wondering about whether Seamonkey will cease to work on Macbooks
with Apple silicon. I realise it is a bit of an outlier ut will have to
plan to change if this happens.

I have a Mini with an M1 processor in it, and not having any problems.
I don't use Seamonkey frequently on that machine, but you should be fine.

See The Apple support page "Using Intel-based apps on a Mac with Apple
silicon", at <https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102527>.

SUMMARY

You will be fine up to macOS 27.
Starting with Apple silicon computers using macOS 28, SeaMonkey might
not work.

Apple seems to have either introduced bugs and or changes in 26.4 and up so
SeaMonley currently tends to crash on these versions. I stick with 15.7.x for
now. Mozilla just needed to patch Firefox too and other programs are affected
also.

Hopefully, SeaMonkey team will update its macOS version to support v28 like previous versions.

It would be better for all if Apple unbroke whatever they screwed up.

Support for v28 will not take just an "update" or "patch".

If you look at the SeaMonkey download page here, SeaMonkey only has
builds for x64 CPUs and not for ARM64 / Apple Silicon CPUs.

Software builds for x64 CPUs will not run on v28 with Apple Silicon
CPUs. That is Apple's doing which the SeaMonkey team has no control over.

Support for v28 would need completely new builds for ARM64 / Apple
Silicon CPUs. Any such new builds would appear as an extra column or
columns here, not in the columns labelled "x64".

Wow, we're up to version 28 now? I though V 26 was the latest rubbish
from cupertino.

Yeah, I heard that voice too. But God never showed up. Maybe it's
because some women live here too, and god only likes men.

                                   Are Women Human?

In the year 584, in Lyon, France, 43 Catholic bishops and 20 men
representing other bishops, after a lengthy debate, took a vote. The
results were 32 yes, 31 no. Women were declared human by one vote.

I'd say that is conclusive proof that God does not only like men!
