(Just to clarify:

The localhost part is because of the redirect_uri parameter in the
OAuth2 request, if you open this address in a browser, it will try to
redirect to localhost on success, that's expected.)

Mark, as I've just responded elsewhere in this thread, I, too, have been
experiencing this same problem with Yahoo Mail for the last couple of days.

I don't have/have never had the NoScript Add-on installed on this
computer .... but Yahoo Mail DID function until the last couple of days.

Just on spec, I cleared the Error Console (Tools -> Web Development ->
Error Console) and then re-tried with SeaMonkey to log-in to my Yahoo
Mail account but failed. The Error Console screen was filled with ....

Expected declaration but found '*'. Skipped to next declaration.
https://s.yimg.com/wm/mbr/172...............28e8/yahoo-main.css Line: 7

.... and lots of other Error messages as well!

I'm a NoScript user, but have never interacted with ABE.

If NoScript is active, then it can be disruptive to mail connections. At
the very least, you need to make sure that all of the scripting hosts
that Yahoo mail uses have been whitelisted. A good place to start would
be to make sure you have whitelisted the Yahoo sites that mail.yahoo.com
uses for web access. That would include yahoo.com, yahoo.net, oath.com
and yimg.com. The web client also uses googletagmanager, which may be
necessary for use there, but probably isn't necessary for POP/IMAP/SMTP
from the Seamonkey mail client. I would also whitelist yahooapis.com

I know that with Microsoft servers and OAuth2, I found that all of the
authentication processes that they use take a little bit of effort to
find all the necessary servers to whitelist, but I do have that working.
But Yahoo's processes are far less complex than what Microsoft is
imposing on its users.

I noted elsewhere in this thread that if NoScript is installed, then you
definitely need to whitelist all the Yahoo-related domains in use (or as
a testing thing, temporarily disable NoScript).

I believe that OAuth2 *is* a form of MFA.

Yahoo hasn't been as enthusiastic as Gmail and Microsoft about doing
OAuth2, and I think the current status is that they're supporting OAuth2
(and probably preferring it). The alternative to OAuth2 is that they
continue to support "application passwords", where you go into Yahoo's
configs and get a separate password that you save into your mail client,
and where that's a different password than what you use to log into
Yahoo directly.

I just made a check of my own Yahoo account, and I see that it's set to
use Normal authentication, which would mean that I haven't bothered to
convert that account OAuth2 (at least not in Seamonkey -- I also have
that in setups on other machines, and I may have enabled OAuth2 there).

Probably the first step would be to review Yahoo's documentation on
configuration of Thunderbird, and that should include instructions both
on how to work with OAuth2 as well as a secondary password.

If you choose to continue with a secondary password, get a new one, and
if you're getting a prompt for a password, enter that password.

On the other hand, I've lived with OAuth2 long enough that I'm used to
it. Thus, you could go the route of removing all Yahoo passwords saved
in the password manager. Then, when you try to check mail, you'll get
the normal password request (enter your normal Yahoo password), and then
when Seamonkey tries to connect to Yahoo's server, you should see a
pop-up that demands your password. When you re-enter your regular
password, then the OAuth2 token gets created, and should be sufficient
for ongoing use.

I will note that this is how it *should* work, and I haven't actually
seen Yahoo's dialogs recently enough to know if there's something I'm
missing.

Good suggestions, Richmond, but I have been experiencing the same thing
with Yahoo mail over the past couple of days after it having worked for
many years (since approx Feb 2018).

I have made NO CHANGES to my SeaMonkey installation. Yahoo mail just
stopped working on Tuesday evening, I think i.e. two days ago ....

So I am now logging in to my Yahoo account using Firefox. No problems
.... so I expect Yahoo has made changes to its system/coding which now
causes SeaMonkey to not work with Yahoo mail ..... as so many other
sites are failing as well.

I'm sure the SM Devs are working at it.

If you are logging in with firefox then you are using webmail, so is it
webmail that is not working with Seamonkey? Or are you using Seamonkey
Mail with Imap or POP3?

Yahoo Webmail (i.e. in a Browser Tab) has not worked for me in my
SeaMonkey Browser screen for a couple of days. I don't have any e-mail
account set up in SeaMonkey Mail.

With Firefox ... Yahoo Mail is not a problem.

OK well this thread is about Imap. Perhaps you should create a new
thread about webmail to avoid muddying the waters? I tested webmail and
you are right, it doesn't work with the seamonkey browser, even when I
changed the user agent to chromium.

Is the webmail itself that does not work or just logging in? Or is it
not clear which one is failing?

With my Webmail, enter email address, new screen asking for Password,
but even with correct Password, I just see a little spinning wheel at
right hand end of "Next" bar.

Elsewhere in this thread (in the discussion of Yahoo-mail NOW failing to
download e-mail into an local SeaMonkey e-mail) it was suggested to try
a new profile to see if that worked.

Just FYI, I've just now created a new Profile (Tools - Switch Profiles -
Manage Profiles -> Create Profile) and, in that Browser Only
incarnation, I tried logging into my Yahoo mail account (then went and
made my Dinner) ..... and failed with the spinning wheel span and span.

So I don't think making a new Profile will fix the OP.

I have tried several times to get Yahoo mail working in SeaMonkey mail
without success. I finally decided to try doing so using app passwords
and got nowhere there either.

At this point I broke down and opened Thunderbird. I was able to
quickly get Yahoo mail set up there. I have disabled Yahoo mail in
SeaMonkey.

If anyone has Yahoo mail working with IMAP/SMTP in SeaMonkey mail and
can tell me exactly how they got it working I will be happy to try
again, but until that point I am stuck with Thunderbird for it.

I just set up Imap yahoo email in seamonkey. I used this info when
setting up:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html

In seamonkey's server settings I chose Qauth2.

It seems to be working, but at this point, I haven't changed the
outgoing server to yahoo yet, so if it works, it will be using the
google smtp server to send mail. I'll change this next.

Good luck

Yes I have had it working with an app password for a long time, and
because you started this thread I managed to get it working with Oauth2
and described in detail how I did it, but it was no fun at all. I
recommend using an app password and second factor authentication for
security.

Well, reading the other two responses to your post, David, it seems it
is possible to set your computer up to download your e-mail from yahoo.

I had wondered if I was unable to download my mail because I was using a
freebie Yahoo e-mail account .... but it seems not.

Hi, after some prove&error tests, I managed to get my Yahoo! mail
account under SM mail v2.53.21 using application passwords generated
with the help o a FF (we all have one for the pages we can't see with
SM, right?)

My tries to got it work with OAUTH2 didn't work, all I got was the
spinning wheel and finally a timeout.

Here are the steps I've done:

1. Open you Yahoo! account on a firefox browser and generate a new
Application password for thunderbird IMAP connections.
2. Open seamonkey mail app and add a new account or edit yours. The
correct server parameters are the following:
	Server type: IMAP Mail Server
	-Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com
	-Server Port: 993
	-Username: your yahoo e-mail
	Security Setting:
	-Connection Security: SSL/TLS
	-Authentication method: Normal Password
3. Clic on Get Msgs...
-A dialog asking for a password will appear
-Come back to FF and copy the application password you generated
before, and paste it on seamonkey's mail password dialog and don't
forget to check the remember password option, because Yahoo! won't
reveal the application password again.

If you want to configure the Yahoo! smtp server, you need generate
another application password under FF and paste it on SM whent it asks,
and mark the save password option.
This is my Server configuration for SMTP:
	-Server Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
	-Port: 465
	Security Settings
	-Connection Security: SSL/TLS
	-Authentication method: Normal Password
	-User name: your yahoo e-mail

Remember that smtp servers are hold indenpent, so you should choose one
for any imap server that you have configured or the default one would be
used.

I hope this helps!
