Do you update right away? Wait a few hours, days, or weeks? I think I am
going to delay my immediate updates by a few days for now on since
Mozilla keeps releasing too many updates (e.g., v152.0.x) these days.
Yes, I can get and use ESR but I want the newer features and not right
away. I want to wait a little bit before doing upgrades.
Thank you for reading and hopefully answering. :)

In the many years I have used FireFox I have only regreted it a couple of times and all had to do when the tabs toolbar was moved above the address away from the page that it was associated with.

Here, also a very long time user of Firefox, I update when I get the auto message that an update is available. I have "Check for updates, but choose when to install." ticked On. My main PITA as knuttle notes, is when they do something that FU., my preference of having the Tabs below the toolbars. :-/ Wasting time again, fiddling with the chrome - userChrome.css file to get it back below again. I see in the Configs, they've added the ability to have Vertical tabs, which as far as I'm concerned is a waste of coding space. Why don't they just add a setting for Tabs below the tool bars... FW... (That's an expletive). D.

As soon as the nag appears... it's interesting that a couple of other responders mention 'Tabs on Bottom' as that's the way I run mine too, and really the only major snafu which might re-appear when an update interferes with my userChrome.

Every few years, but nearly a decade for Thunderbird. Previous updates
eliminated valuable features in exchange for nothing that I found better
than what I'd lost. Running FF 150 and TB 139 right now. Updated both
unwillingly and have no plans to update again without some sort of
compulsion.

Monitors are wide. How can you NOT put the tabs at the side? We don't
need all that horizontal space for most uses and if you have ~30 tabs
you can't read the titles unless they're at the side.

My Monitor is, maybe, 15 inches wide and 10 inches high (but don't quote me). (I have my SM Browser screen set to about 12 inches wide but Mail&News and IRC screens set to about 10 inches wide.) If I have 30 tabs across the bottom (not gunna happen!), each tab would be about half an inch wide. If I had 30 tabs down a side, each tab would be about a third of an inch deep. Or does putting them down a side allow for multiple columns .... just as I think you can have multiply rows across the bottom. -- Daniel70

You misunderstand, the tab contents are full height of the firefox window, it's just a vertical list of tab titles down one edge (I refer right hand side) and it scrolls vertically when you have lots of tabs, you can adjust the width so the titles are not truncated to death. Try it, you might like it ...

Ah! YESSS!

Perhaps things are different with laptops, but I have a 27" monitor and
crappy vision. I use my laptop only when I have to. BUT... Since you
can scroll the list of tabs (and indentations and collapses are
possible) there's no need for more than one column. I rarely have more
than 30 tabs (which will fit without scrolling) and that's just because
I didn't close some when I was done. Chrome has vertical-tab add-ons,
but they're not all that functional while being annoying, so I put up
with the horizontal ones -- I rarely need to use Chrome anyway, so it's
not that big a nuisance.
FF offers a native vertical-tab option now, but I haven't tried it. I've
spent a lot of time tweaking my Tree Tabs extension and don't want to
take a chance that might screw it up.

Those of us who started out with a 9" b&w monitor are SOOOOO glad things
improved.

My son bought a 45" hi-def TV to use as a monitor. I envy that he has
little windows open (mostly a lot of xterms) for everything he's doing
without shifting screens (I have 4 virtual screens that I can flip
between just by moving my mouse to the appropriate edge) but the need to
constantly keep moving my head around is off-putting. He tried to force
a 33" on me, but that was too big.
I have TB in one screen, FF in another, sometimes Chrome in the third,
and the 4th is open for whatever other thing -- mostly Picasa -- that I
might want to do. NOT full-screen, I want the option to move things
around and resize on the fly. I pop up xterms as needed. Life is good.

I finally switched from CRT SD to HD after I was evicted from my former
nest during Labor Day 2014 weekend. Then, I got a 22" HD monitor to
replace my 1280x1024 monitor that had a flicky power switch.

Back in 2003 or 04, one of the local Supermarket chains (ALDI) had a special for 32inch SD T.V. for just AU$250. My 26inch SD CRT T.V. was still working but at that price ....!! > Then, I got a 22" HD monitor to > replace my 1280x1024 monitor that had a flicky power switch. > I've still got my 15" HP 6720 Laptop on the same desk as my 24" Desktop. Because the 24" has all the electronics behind the Screen, it is rather unstable .... so I have the HP Laptop sitting on the 24" screens base plate to give it a bit of stability. -- Daniel70

Jesus, doesn't anyone use a REAL computer any more? Tower case, 4 or 5
hard drives, a DVD drive, a REAL keyboard, a REAL mouse? I only use my
laptop when I need to use windows -- once a year for taxes. And I HAD a
win7 tower and KVM switch until the tax software no longer ran under 7.
I can still use the win7 if I need it, but I don't.
