Is 115.27 still the last update that works on Windows 7?

How often has this been asked now? *Yes* it is.

Official statement from Mozilla:
"Microsoft ended official support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 in January
of 2023. Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates and
have known exploits. With no official support from Microsoft, maintaining
Firefox for obsolete operating systems becomes costly for Mozilla and
dangerous for users."
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-users-windows-7-8-and-81-moving-extended-support

So you have two options:
- Get a (relative) up to date system¹, download the actual Firefox, get
used to it and move on. (¹The system doesn't have to be Windows.)
- Or stick with an outdated Firefox browser on an unpatched and insecure
system you are "used to". In real life it doesn't matter which of both
has more security holes.

That's what I have known for awhile. I asked again because these things
are frequently extended.

That's what's been announced. However,
https://whattrainisitnow.com/release/?version=esr suggests that it's not
impossible that there could be additional 115 releases.

I suppose I'll have to Wait for September 26 (next scheduled release date)
and see if there's a 115.28.

That's the 16th, 26 days from now. I never said I don't make mistakes.

It won't be long. you will get it either this week or the next. Mozilla
is striving to be seen as working hard spending millions it gets free
from Google!

I am still on 115.27.0esr but it is there; Whether I use it is a
different matter. Edge gets updated regularly on my machine.

I don't use Edge as a browser, but neither Firefox nor Chromium seem to
work with screen shots and Edge does (current Xubuntu).

(B)ut Firefox [edited: doesn't] seem to work with screen shots.

In what way? Ffox 142.0 responds to "Prt Scr" on Win 11 Home 24H2 for
me.

In Firefox simply right click on the page and select "take screenshot"
from the menu.

What's nice bout the feature is it allows you to easily get the WHOLE
page instead of the usual visible part of the screen.

That's something I've wanted for a long time. When was it added to FF?

At least in February 2023.

That works. Of course its limited to the FF browser Window, rather than
anything on the screen.

Also, I noticed you assumed Windows, when I said otherwise.

The problem is that my screenshot utility doesn't seem to produce the
proper link for Firefox. The link that doesn't work is:

file:///tmp/Screenshot_2025-08-21_12-33-40.png

Firefox will not open this link, even though the file is in this
directory.

Nope, that's not true. I didn't.

So try to save the pictures from your screenshot utility somewhere else.
