FF140/linux. Until yesterday a middle-click opened a new tab but didn't
switch to it. Exactly what I want. Now it does nothing and I have to
right-click and choose to open a tab. Am I the only one?

Apparently yes -- the Logitech mouse is to blame. Never mind.

Logitech wireless mice seem to last 3 years or so before something goes
wrong.

I have had good luck with VssoPlor mice. I have got a rechargeable one
in Jan 2024, and it is still going strong. When ever it needs charging
I plug it into the computer and use it as a tethered mouse for about an
hour. It needs recharging about once every 10 days. My work keeps me
on the computer for many hours per day so it get quite heavy use.

Since I have the cable store the cable near the computer, there is no
disruption looking for batteries.

Logitech "MX 518" here. Nothing to moan since ~12 years of heavy use
including excessive gaming.
Yes - it's wired. ;-P

Dunno about Wireless mice, but here I'm using a wired Logitech mouse
that's outlived at least two previous PCs (used everyday for business and
pleasure) and is still working okay. :-)

The number on the bottom is: M/N:M-BT83 though I can't remember when I
purchased it/them because it was a long time ago.

I've just checked and all three old computers here are using the same
Mouse version.

Perhaps it's just a Wireless thing. :-/

D.

Perhaps it is this one:.

That's not really my experience. I used my Logitech M705 for *years*
until there was a hole on the side. It still works though. I replaced it
with a M720 model.

There's a button hidden behind the rubber on the left side of the mouse,
where you keep your thumb. The rubber is completely worn out hence the
hole. It still works though.

I've been using M705's since about 2008, give or take. I wore out the
RMB on one, where clicking it either gave me nothing or it gave me a
double click, but other than that they just go and go. I seem to replace
the batteries around the 3-year mark, so maybe that's what they mean
when they say something goes wrong.
