I know this shouldn't be the problem but this is Windows and we're not getting anywhere as it is so just try it.

Do you have/use a Dutch Windows version? If so, it is called 'Referentiebeheer' in Dutch. If the English version, you should be able to find it both in Windows 10 and 11 by using the search box on the Taskbar. Alternatively, you can start the 'Control Panel' and enter 'cred' in *its* search box (upper-right 'Search Control Panel'). N.B. This is only to *find* the Credential Manager. I've never used it, so I don't know what dillinger wants you to look for. > > Fokke

See above for the results. You mean you can't find the Credential Manager? If so, try to find it on *another* system! Don't just throw your hands in the air! You have the (sharing) problem, not us! As I mentioned, both Windows 10 and 11 (and probably all before) have the Credential Manager, so if you can't find it on one system, it's Troubleshooting 101 to try to find it on another system. Perhaps the 'absent' Credential Manager is even (part of) your problem. > > N.B. This is only to *find* the Credential Manager. Do you mean that now (since you removed Avira and installed Bitdefender) everybody can access the shares on your wife's laptop? If so, I refer you to the checklist I sent on 27/04/2025, 18:46 where my item 3 read: "3. Ensure all 3rd party antivirus has any firewall disabled - at least until you get the network to function." I should have added - if you can't see how to disable the firewall, then uninstall the antivirus program. -- Graham J

You might mean "unexpectedly"?
I'm not criticising, just trying to help, I know English is just one
of the languages you can use.
Hmm, I'm not even sure that "unsuspectable" *is* English but,
knowing English, I'm probably wrong in that. We do things to words
that are quite horrible. :)

Is that what you want?
You might be able to use the settings in BitDefender to allow others
to see your machine, to Whitelist them.
Still, I'm happy for you. You've done a lot of work to reach this
point.

The Credential Manager should show the computername, a username and a obfuscated password, it can be used to check, add, remove or edit these.
