#18113 — What is this IPv6 address?

Hi All,

I know squat about IPv6.

This is a list of available IPv6 address.

"0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1",
"fe80:0:0:0:"

It look to me like the fe one is mangled, but I
do not know.

You see anything wrong with these two?

Many thanks,
-T

they're both expanded a bit more than they need to be

::1 is like 127.0.0.1, a loopback addr

fe80::0 is equivalent to 169.254.0.0, it's link local, non routable, for
when you can't get any other IP addr.

That's invalid because it's incomplete.

Apparently not:

cer@Telcontar:~> host fe80:0:0:0:
Host fe80:0:0:0: not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

Cheers, Carlos.
