Indeed! Our (Dutch) banks offer PDF, Excel and CSV (Comma Seperated
Values) formats. I think any somwhat 'modern' bank offers these options.
Our banks already offer them for over two decades! (I use CSV with my
own scripts.)

My bank says "excel" but sometimes uses html, others csv, others XLS. It varies over the years. LO is happy importing all of them.

Thanks for this, but the problem statements are older than those
available as CSV on this bank's website.

Thanks for clarifying what you meant by 'best *paid* pdf editor'.

There are 'perpetual' paid versions available instead of subscription
based versions.

PDF-XChange
EaseUS PDF
Xodo PDF
Foxit PDF

You can find pricing for any of the above by searching for the product
by name.

Though, unlike some subscription versions they may not provide future
upgrades, protection against obsolence and support, or the same level of
features and tools.

Thanks for this. Foxit seems to be the most capable, but I don't see a
perpetual license, and the annual one is expensive.

EasUS looks worth investigating; a perpetual license (with upgrades, and
offered discount) is under £60. I'll give it a try.

Click on the *Click Here* button

=> The option to purchase(not cheap, $210 US) PDF Editor 14 will be present

Note: In August 2025, Foxit stated that version 14 would be the last

Thanks, Winston - easy to miss! Personally, I really dislike
subscriptions, and that's a lot of money, so I'll give Foxit a miss.

Of the ones I've tried, EaseUS seems the best of the paid offering, but
PDFGear (free!) gets better and better in my estimation, and I may not
need to purchase anything for general use.

I also have an old copy of Acrobat Pro (V9), and I've found that has
some useful batch processing capabilities which have allowed me to
delete the first page of a batch of statements and also crop off much of
the heading, which will simplify the files for subsequent processing

The best part of the Acrobat Pro payware, nowadays anyway, since freeware
abounds, is the control+shift+o which will take as input any web page URL.

Then, if you let it, it will put the entire web site onto that PDF.
With links.

So you have to bound it a bit.
I usually only let it go down a couple of layers.

Otherwise, the entire Internet is saved into a single clickable PDF file.

Most people will find that the old version of Adobe Acrobat Professional
XI is sufficient. It's a perpetual licence and includes almost all the
features of the free software available online, plus more!

I agree with MegaNZ, but the caveat is you have to have the installer.
 Adobe Acrobat Standard 6.0

I just looked and I have all the Acrobat professional installers from
Acrobat 4 to 7, which I bought while I was still working in the valley.

Acrobat Pro 6 is what I use today mostly for when I need to do minor edits.
(Note that in those days the reader didn't exist, so it doesn't say "pro".)

Also I use it to convert an entire web page hierarchy to a linked PDF.

I don't use the Acrobat 7 because it required an Internet connection full
time, which was absurd at the time and is absurd even now when I have it.

In summary, if the OP (or the lurkers) have an old copy of Adobe Acrobat
Pro, it has a perpetual license which doesn't cause problems up to 6.

Dunno how it works after 7 though, but I see it looks like it's similar
(but I'm sure it requires the Internet after 7 since 7 requires it).

Also note that it works differently on Windows 11 in that I can't set Adobe
Acrobat Standard 6.0 to be the default PDF editor for some reason.

But on Windows 10, it works like it should (and always did).
Dunno what's wrong with Windows 11 but that's on my spouse's laptop.

I have a copy of V9, with useful batch processing capabilities, though
it's no better at extracting the tables I need from these bank
statements. Garbage in: garbage out.

If they are proper fillable Acroforms, then she just needs a good PDF
reader that supports Acroforms. Obviously Acrobat Reader will do it and
I think some others will too, ask Google about filling in Acroforms.

If they're not proper Acroforms then, as before, many PDF readers have a
fill and sign function that you can use but it's probably going to be
more hassle doing it.
