Worse! I haven't chosen 'install latest updates' and W11 25H2 is nagging
to install.

<https://i.postimg.cc/GtXT2mV8/26H2.jpg>

And the taskbar keeps showing that an update is available. I had the
same thing when 25H2 was available. I had to uncheck that update a dozen
times before it stopped nagging (and then it installed anyway after a
long time).

My work machine runs Win11 Pro without the "be first" setting, it hasn't
mentioned 26H2 yet. My home machine runs Win11 Home with the "be first"
setting, it offered 26H2 on 30th, I upgraded and haven't seen anything
negative so far ...

I've rebooted and it's still showing 26H2 as an optional update (in
Windows Update as well as in the taskbar).

You can use this to set the release to lock to. 11 25H2 (to avoid 26H2).

   https://www.grc.com/incontrol.htm

One problem is, the enablement package (745KB) is likely
already on the machine. It's not clear whether the four
or so registry locations InControl loads, will be enough
to cause that nag to go away.

If I was in that pinch, my sequence would be.

1) Disconnect from network
2) Insert 25H2 DVD or ISO, mount the media, run Setup.exe
This will do a Repair Install of your current 25H2.
3) When desktop returns, use InControl. Set the release to 11 25H2.
That's what mine is set to right now (no nag).

4) Connect to the network, and allow Windows Updates.
5) This should bring you back to 26200.9457 , whereas the
enablement would have bumped it to 26300.9457 .

Tnx, Paul. I'm aware of Gibson's InControl. It was suggested to me when
I got the same behaviour for 25H2. IIRC the notification for 25H2 did
not go away. I kept closing the option in Windows Update until it stayed
away.

In the end 25H2 was installed anyway, so I'm probably just going to
install 26H2 and be done with it. I've made a backup image of 25H2,
so...

Yes, I have that exact same situation/message on both our 25H2 systems.

What *exactly* do you mean by "I had to uncheck that update"? Do you
click on the 'X" at the end of

"(i) Windows 11, version 26H2 is available	Download & install X"

If so, what happens then? Does the update go away and come back later
(when?)? Other?

I want the update to go away for now, but I do not want to have to
jump through hoops to get it back when/if I'm ready for it.

N.B. If you hover over the 'X", it says 'Close', but doesn't say what
'Close' actually does.

Yes. Sorry, poor choice of words.

> If so, what happens then? Does the update go away and come back later

It goes away and comes back again. And there's a notification on my
Taskbar 'Get the latest features and security improvements with the
newest feature update.'

It doesn't do anything apparently. But IIRC I had the same behaviour
when 25H2 was available. I kept closing it and one day it was gone. No
option to install it through Updates, so I just waited (a long time)
until it installed automatically with the other updates.

There is still no ISO file available for the international version of
English. The English United States version may not offer users with
other English versions, such as the United Kingdom version, the true
upgrade option. I think so, but I haven't tried it yet.

By 'true upgrade', I mean upgrading while keeping all apps and documents
rather than doing a clean upgrade.

I don't follow! Why can't you just 'upgrade' ('update' actually) via
Windows Update (as mentioned before, just click 'Download & install)?
That of course will "keep all apps and documents". No need for ISOs.

As to 'English (United Kingdom)': I have that on my system and got
offered the 26H2 update in Windows Update (at least) yesterday.

In order to upgrade from Windows 10 or Windows 11 23H2, you will require
an ISO file. The eKB method only works with versions 24H2 and 25H2.
There are still people still using Windows 10 or 23H2 for reasons I
won't go in this post.

If you use the English (United States) file, you will get keep all your
Apps greyed out since the upgrade only works with the same language.
Even if you install language packs and dictionaries, English (United
States) is treated as different from English (United Kingdom).

I opened a browser in WSL2 (which means my UserAgent is Linux),
and the "download some media" portion of the dialog does
offer the International English version.

Historically, the enablement package has almost always released in
advance of the ISO versions(to consumers).
Those with Virtual Studio(fka, MSDN, Technet) are the first to see the
full 26H2 ISO.

Atm, only the ARM 64 bit 26H2 ISO is available when using a browser in
normal mode.

The Win11 multi-editon ISO for x64 devices currently is not available
from the en-us or the en-gb download site when using normal browser mode.

But....
=> When using Edge in Incognito mode, the Wi11 multi-edition ISO for x64
devices is available for the en-us and en-gb download site.

Correction, just learned from an Enterprise Admin, that a support case
was submitted on the above site error-ing out.
  - Cause - Temporary down, backend switch to accommodate high
traffic/volume

You can still use Incognito mode.

Also, if you prefer ISO to have install.wim instead of install.esd, the
option to use a different browser user agent or non-Windows device still
applies.
