I don't use different subnets.
We have only 1 LAN, with IP addresses as 102.168.1.xxx
Every system has it's own xxx code, depening on their MAC address.

  FYI/FWIW, after some 140 responses, I tried to set up a share from my
wife's Windows 10 laptop to my Windows 11 laptop, both Home edition and
both on Wi-Fi. There was no problem whatsoever. On the Windows 10
system, I just clicked on the Windows 11 system's name in the Network
tree of File Explorer, was asked for the account name and password of/on
the Windows 11 system and that was it. Of course entering \\<W11_laptop>
in the path box of File Explorer gave the same result, so even with
Network Discovery problems, \\<W11_laptop> just works.

  Note that I normally share the other way around, from my Windows 11
laptop to her Windows 10 laptop. So the share I made did not exist
before and there never was a similar share before.

  This does not really help you, but - at least IMO - is proof that
there is something rather uncommon wrong with the setup of your wife's
Windows 11 laptop. (Or is it a Pro-specific issue?)

Hi all,

Many thanks for your help and suggestions.
But all of a sudden I found out that from the other 2 W10 pc's, I have 
access to my wife's laptop! I couldn't believe it.
But from my pc still not. Seeing the shares on all other pc's is no 
problem, but not from my wife's laptop.
So I think now lies the problem with my pc and not by her laptop.
Any idea?

Yes, you are right. Windows Defender on my pc is off, because I use 
Avira Antivirus Pro. It has a firewall. When I turned it off, I could 
ping my pc from my wife's laptop.
After that I turned it on again. Or should I choose a different virus 
protection software?

When you look at the machine combinations that work, do any
of those machines also have Avira ? Those machine can serve
as a "comparative platform".

I think the best comparison to make is between the problem PC, his 
wife's W11 PC, and his own identical W11 PC  -  the running services and

Worth a try.

Uninstall Avira first, then see if folder sharing works.  If so, install 
Bitdefender and test again.

When dealing with any AV product, there are *two* steps.

1) Go to Programs and Features and remove the program.
   Make sure you have recorded the license key for later usage.
   Don't delete the program, without ascertaining you have records of the license value.

2) The second step involves a "Cleaner Application", which is
   run as a separate step. Step (1) does not result in complete
   removal. This is why step (2) is required.

This article indicates that Avira recommends manual cleaning for Step (2).
Some companies provide an executable that removes the files, and that
file is an executable you would download.

I uninstalled Avira. My shares were now accessible from the network. I 
installed BitDefender, and it was the same. My shares are still 
accessible from the network.
So that problem was solved.

Good idea. I did. After uninstalling Avira every pc in the network could 
see my shares. I installed BitDefender, and it was the same. So that 
problem is solved now.
