The support people liked Notepad but it created headaches. 'What's that 
strange character in the Motif GUI?'  There was also the feature where if 
you added a line and saved it <CR><LF> wasn't appended to the line unless 
you explicitly hit return. 

Trying to get them to use Vim was a heavy lift. Notepad++ worked better 
and they liked it.
