Did a Copilot icon show up this morning upon your morning reboot?

An unannounced guest of "Copilot" showed up on my Windows 10 taskbar, and 
when I searched using it for who put it there, it told me to look in the 
task manager using (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Previously to get to the Task Manager I had been using what has been known 
as the "three fingered salute" for decades, which is (Ctrl + Alt + Del) or 
right clicking in the taskbar to select "Task Manager" but Copilot told me 
I could also use the (Windows Key + X) combo to get there. Copilot also 
gave Windows Key + R, type taskmgr. So Copilot seems to know Windows.

That's my first Copilot interaction ever, as I didn't put it there.
Someone else did. Must've been the latest Microsoft update? Dunno.

Who put it there, and, more to see if it's useful, may I ask if this 
Copilot thingey is any good in your opinion at debugging Windows issues?

For example:
Can it debug the system and tell me who put it there, when & why?

Yes and no.

In case you don't know, Office got renamed Microsoft 365 Copilot.

It's up to you to personally explore down the rabbit hole and see the 
advantages and disadvantages of Windows AI integration.

Anytime I've made such a yes/no decision "in real life" (tm), I've 
normally come off bad, following postulating negative advice by others.

So don't do that.

Think of this. In a few years everyone will be using Copilot. Just as 
they all currently do, using Office.

Then again, I could be (running Debian) the person swaying you to 
investigate other operating systems. If random annoyances disturb you so 
then maybe do so,

But in this case not. Stick with the program!

Microsoft Office got renamed that way, but there are other Office
Suites, that work fine on Win10 and dornt use/need the MS Copilot.

Thanks for the advice to test out the Copilot AI integration into Windows.
I've been using it all day to see how it differs from Google's AI.

One nice advantage of Copilot is a login isn't needed to Microsoft.
That's useful because when you're on VPN, the Google AI stops working.

Another nice advantage of Copilot is it doesn't seem to use a web browser.
The Google AI uses a web browser.

But the Copilot GUI is slow when I ask it to spellcheck a document.
Very slow compared to pasting that same document into the Google AI.

Instead of displaying essentially all at once, it teases you with the
display, until finally it's all there (if the document is a page or two).

Also, Copilot has this strange propensity to ask ME dumb questions at the
end of each response. The Google AI doesn't ask me dumb questions.

Copilot also guesses what questions I'm going to ask and presents those
dumb questions below the query line, which, I guess, is fine for some.

What else do you notice that's weird about Copilot compared to Google?
(That's an example of the dumb questions that Copilot has been asking me.)

Same. I noticed it showed up after updating my Edge last night. I am pretty sure that where it came from.

In File Explorer, go to the address bar and enter:

   shell:AppsFolder

Look for "Microsoft 365 Copilot", right click, there is an "uninstall".
That would uninstall MicrosoftOfficeHub.

Now, if you do a "Create a Shortcut" and the shortcut is placed on
the Desktop, doing Properties on that indicates "Microsoft.MicrosoftOfficeHub_8wekyb3d8bbwe"
and the string on the end, is one of a few Microsoft identifiers. That is not
an identifier related to the user, all the installs use that identifier. That's
what it actually is, is a misnamed MicrosoftOfficeHub update. New colors and icon.

"Apps" updates are not necessarily synchronized to Patch Tuesday. If you go into
settings and use the "Reliability Monitor", you will find the OS is constantly
(and randomly) updating things like MyPhone and so on. You might see some things
try (and fail) to update, about once a week. Purely for your amusement of course,
since there is no user interface indicating an "App" did not succeed at its "update".
We're not expected to know what is going on.

The Marketing Department has multiple holes available to it, and they
are not adverse to releasing untested software either. The OS delivery
path delivers a higher quality of software than the Marketing attacks do.

A few of the "App" areas are protected by restrictive permissions, in case
you were wondering why your searches were not finding these things. There are lots of
ways to find them. They can run, but they can't hide, the rebel scum.

Your explanation was hilarious and well appreciated. What I'm gathering is
M$ "marketing" has a way of giving me stuff without me asking for it.

What they gave me is a new colorful icon (it's blue and pink and yellow)
for Microsoft 365 CoPilot on my taskbar which works without signing in.

But when I went to the 'shell:AppsFolder' and clicked on the icon, it asked
me to sign in or create an account (neither of which am I going to do).

Do you know why the 'shell:AppsFolder' Microsoft 365 CoPilot icon asks me
to sign in while the "Copilot" icon that was put in my taskbar does not?

Intersting. It showed up in my win 10 taskbar about 6 months ago.  Six.

and they put it first in the taskbar. I moved it to last and I've never
used it. 

I don't like artificial intelligence.  It's so artificial.  Like an
aluminum Xmas tree. 
 
I'd rather have human intelligence, or even human stupidity, than
artificial intelligence.... except when it comes to elections.
