I moved from the web to thunderbird for my Gmail account. All my contacts didn't "come over" for "autocomplete." Is there a way to get the same autocomplete on TB that the web Gmail has?

I'm sure people here will give you much better information, but, while nobody replies, try to export your contacts at Gmail and I'm sure Thunderbird will give you some options to import it. Take note of the following new groups on AIOE.org: alt.comp.software.thunderbird alt.comp.software.firefox alt.comp.software.seamonkey

Have you done all the rubbish in here ?
https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-export-your-gmail-contacts-1171992
The VCard format has been around for yonks, but I don't
really know which of the formats collects fragments of
contacts (not fully filled out ones, only received
email addresses, that sort of thing). I don't really
use Contacts, so have no experience with them.

Paul used his or her keyboard to write : > Have you done all the rubbish in here ? > https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-export-your-gmail-contacts-1171992 I read that web page and followed the instructions First I logged into Google using a web browser Then I went to the link https://contacts.google.com/ I pressed the "apps" menu (9 dots in a square) I clicked on "Contacts" in the resulting menu At the left I clicked on "Export" Up came an "Export contacts" form The choices were "Selected contacts" or all "Contacts" and the export choices were "Google CSV", "Outlook CSV", or "vCard (for iOS Contacts)." Who even knew there's such a thing as each of those? ;--> Google CSV -> default character encoding Outlook CSV -> Unicode character encoding In the latest Thunderbird (78.10.0) I couldn't find the import button. Looking it up I found this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1148490 which refers to this https://www.lifewire.com/import-gmail-contacts-to-thunderbird-1173152 Both of which recommend "Outlook CSV" format (for whatever reason) and both of which are dated as the Thunderbird menus aren't the same. In Thunderbird I pressed "Tools -> Import" and switched the default from "Import Everything" to "Address Books" and then I selected the "vCard file (.vcf)" selection instead of the "Text file (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt)" selection suggested in the articles and then browsed to the vcf file "Exported GMail Address Book.vcf" In Thunderbird that created a third separate address book of the same name as the file exported from Google GMail web browser. Personal Address Book Exported GMail Address Book Collected Addresses Now the autocomplete works! Thanks to all who helped out!
