UPDATE: Thanks for the help on the desktop.ini file that Windows seems to put on my desktop whenever it messes with my filesystem and which I don't want to see. I see from the purposefully helpful responses from: o Big Al o Zaghadka o Paul o wasbit o knuttle o MajorLanGod o Johnathan N Little That it's a necessary evil, where I prefer what can't be had: 1. I want to see almost all Windows hidden files, except... 2. I don't want to see a "desktop.ini" file on my desktop. It looks like I can't have my cake and eat it too in this case. a. Either I don't see _any_ Windows hidden files, or, b. I have to deal with Microsoft putting it on my desktop from time to time. Luckily, as most noted, deleting it doesn't seem to cause harm. o So, it's currently gone (for now) -- Until Microsoft puts it back again at some future date.
