Nice, but I think I prefer the instrumental version
with the pretty lady.

I had to learn the words when I was learning Japanese language and
culture so I could go there without getting lost or pissing off too many
people and embarrassing the company. I used to sing it to my kids.
They learned the words too.

They're a strange lot, yer Nipponese, very inscrutable.
When you speak the language, how do you get on with
their l/r oddness? I was very aware of it in that vocal
when she sang 'saku[l/r]a'. I tried to make that sound
myself and somehow just couldn't.

We had production documents specifying hormel wire (Formvar covered
magnet wire) and user manuals showing froppy dlives. The 'to' ending
was thought by most Japanese to be added by some other Japanese guy to
make things match Japanese convention so converting 'Monsanto' or
'Toronto' to English meant that the terminal 'o' got dropped. Vowels
tand to get swepped arund or drupped - but that happens with native
English speakers too (Vatamans).

[possibly apocryphal but OTOH somewhat credible]

Back in the day our UK homebrew mainframe mfr. ICL
tied up with a Nipponese company (I think Fujitsu, BICBR)
to jointly do the next machine in ICL's range, the Series 3.

Came the day that Fujitsu's Head Honcho came to visit,
just to see the new 'puter. So there was the sharply-suited
little yellow man and his entourage being shown the latest
incarnation of the new machine:-

"Is good computer, what it's name?"
   "It's the S3L, [Fujitsu] San.
"Ah so, Estriel, ver' nice name."

 - and so it came to pass...

Oh really? Why does glass break if you subject it to extreme changes in

Of course air doesn't "blow through the glass," you moron. Warm air on
one side and cold air on the other creates a gradient, where the heat
migrates from the warmer side to the colder side. Cold does NOT migrate
towards the warmer side, because cold is a condition, not a thing. Heat
is a thing. Cold is what's left when heat is removed.

No, it's called observational physics as opposed to
your *theoretical* physics.

It can be rightly assumed that warmer room air
radiating outward from the room would cause the
drapes to be pushed outward. Since exactly the
opposite happens (drapes being pushed into the
room by the cold radiating inwardly) that proves
your theoretical physics is incorrect.

You physicists are so full of it. Bah! You get all
caught up in your math and in your grants that
you totally ignore what your eyes and other
