You've never been in the military, have you? You do what you're told to do. Different psychology and motivations at play in senseless and unnecessary wars in other parts of the world. I was drafted under threat of prison, and sent to 'Nam, and none of us gave a fuck. Another civil war in the US would be ridiculously lop-sided. Until they're autonomous and directly controlled from the Pentagon or some such central location, they'll probably also fall under the control of both factions. This would be true especially if it were *not* lopsided. > BTW... who's winning in Ukraine? Last I checked, nobody. Much like Syria and similar places. The nature of modern warfare seems to be such that, since WW II or thereabouts, precious few wars are won by force of arms. They either grind on and on until one side quits, or they just plain grind on and on. And when one side quits, it's usually the one with the most expensive and complicated military. The technologically superior force ... loses. As it did in 'Nam. Because modern wars are won or lost on economic grounds, it seems. You win by not quitting until you've bankrupted your opponent, while keeping your own costs down. Oh you'll take losses along the way, but you'll win, unless they do the same thing and go to low cost methods, whence nobody will win.
