Very true -- but moving thousands of truckloads of rock through a major urban area would tend to attract attention.

There is that. :-)

I like some fantasy shows. The Dresden series was just okay, in comparison to the books. I wasn't happy with the guy who played Dresden. The show just couldn't handle everything that was in the books. It would have been much better as a movie series. There would be special effects galore plus the story. > > Other cities with a lot of construction underground > which wasn't underground when it was constructed are > Anhk-Morpork and Edinburgh. I think the main points aside from magic are moral choices, sex, and violence - it's rather "guilty pleasure" reading for me since, after all, it's not realistic - and movies would have to tone down the sex. Or else concentrate on it and leave out the other stuff... Also Harry Dresden spends a lot of time telling the reader how magic works. In a movie that calls for voice-over, or maybe diagrams. For instance he explains - as it's explained to him - how you can kill an "immortal" being. And then he points out that "immortal" beings probably don't like to have people know that in fact they can be killed. People who aren't "immortal" in particular. So... thanks for telling us about it, Harry. ;-)

Hey, thanks for that. Interesting.
