One thing I notice is the difference between your murders and ours.
Over here, apart from domestics, Americans tend to bump off people
they do not know, often in fairly large numbers. Spraying a movie
audience with automatic fire is a pretty American sort of thing. In
Midsomer County, folks typically know whom they are killing, and
generally have bloody good reasons for doing it. I just watched one
in which a sweet, middle aged church lady was happily avenging a
forebear killed in the mid 19th century. Britons are far more social
than we.

There was something like that in a Foyle's War episode. The killer got the directions to the wrong street from a partially deaf old man.
