I once had to attend a government workshop in Nashville at the Gaylord
Opryland Resort & Convention Center, a glassed-over collection of six
or so hotels with shops and restaurants and a stream flowing through
the middle, all trying to look like a village of some sort, preserved
in aspic. My son, who is a presenter at trade shows has also stayed
there: we agree that the place is absolutely creepy. All the
restaurants are run by the same management, and even though they
attempt to appear different--ethnic, upscale, downscale, whatever, the
too-high prices may differ, but the food is essentially the same. The
best meal I had was at an ersatz Irish pub--if the oil is hot enough,
you cannot screw up fish and chips, and they at least had Harp lager
as a bow to authenticity.
Note to tourists: if you see the name "Gaylord," run away!

The word 'lord' in it is enough to put me off and the name "Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center" would have me running for the hills, screaming. -- Smiler, The godless one. aa #2279 Gods are all tailored to order. They tossed Muhammed out because he destroyed all the Pagan Idols in the Ka'aba Pagan Idol Shrine when he inherited the Ka'aba Pagan High Priest job from gramps...all except the most important Pagan Idol, the Ka'aba Stone, which is revered by Muslims exactly like the Pagans, the bowing, the haj with the circling and pointing and kissing, all things the Pagans did for thousands of years. Abraham may or may not have traveled there to set up the Ka'aba Stone, but it was a Pagan Idol for thousands of years. But he came back with an army and taught the Pagans a lesson. I'm certain if he came back, or the Mahdi spoke for him, he'd say to drop all the Pagan rituals, he was just trying to help the family business, and they are all long gone.
