You need to explain exactly how you reached that conclusion, instead
of rudely and stupidly talking at an audience who don't share your
belief in bronze-age mythology, as if it were universally granted.

Just like your "mental image" that when the people who wrote down
myths and legends which had been passed down from generation to
generation and had mutated with each re-telling, actually meant what
you imagine is today's scientific knowledge but isn't.

For example it suggests that at one time the sea level was much lower.
And then it rose inundating most of civilization from which some humans
migrated to new higher lands and started a new life with the same farm
animals etc. that they could save and bring along.

Well Warmballers talk about the horrible destruction of sea levels
rising a few meters because humans tend to populate the coasts. Now
consider the post-ice age rise of 400 feet! Just how much of human
settlements do you suppose got wiped out. LOTS.

Does the Noah allegory pretty much describe this event? Yes it does.
However those with a political agenda try to say that such stories must
be interpreted as precise truth. Such a view with regard to myth from
the depths of history is obviously anti-scientific and politically
motivated. You can see this in action with Velikovsky's books. Basically
he only said, Hey, look at these old myths, maybe there is a grain of
truth in them? But the attack on him was relentless. Every argument was
that if you interpreted the myths word for word as precisely true they
were nonsense. Which was just a political strawman to chop down. So what
was the establishment so scared of. THAT is the real question.

Oddly, Lib journalists make up shit for news all the time. Nobody bats
an eye. But discuss a myth from prehistory and suddenly everyone is
screaming for absolute accuracy. Obviously an agenda is at work.

No it doesn't. It says that the water levels rose then fell again. But I
seriously doubt that the Noah-myth is a lesson in geology.

Where in the Noah-myth is there talk about ice age? What you're doing is
post-rationalization. Why do you feel the need to defend the old myths?

> ... Yes it does.

Well, no, it doesn't. Not a word about ice age and rising sea levels do to
the melting of the ice. One could argue that the origin of the myth goes
back to a catastrophic local event, and because of their abysmal ignorance
(I don't blame them) they cooked up a story about an angry god.

Anybody who takes the flood story seriously, is a blithering idiot.

And?

Were a billion people living in these settlements? Were they major
cities vital to the economies of the country and the world?

Does he care about what happens to them?

I've posted this link before. For those who don't know, Bangladesh
includes a huge delta, where the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers combine
and flow into the Bay of Bengal. This is some of the most fertile
agricultural land anywhere, because of the material deposited during
floods due to Himalayan snow melt.

The country stands to lose a thind of its area.

The primitives had an excuse because they didn't hace the benetis of
something like five t housand years of knowledge and understanding
since then.

But today's religious loonies don't, and they are bent on taking us
back to the dark ages - while taking advantage of the very
scientifically derived modern understanding they reject.

Hear that BJ? It's not just me that thinks you are an idiot.

Sea level rose 400 feet (repeat 400 FEET!) at the end of the ice age.
I'm sure that flooded nothing if you believe it didn't exist. Science is
all about what you believe, Harlow. I don't have to call you a
blithering idiot. You demonstrate the fact daily yourself!

Anyway, Chris is a Atheist Fundie just like you, Harlow. I'm sure you
two are great butt-buddies.

Too funny!

BJ is a believer in the Noah's Ark bible lie, yet he claims to be a
'scientist'. Of course he also thinks creation science should be taught
in our schools.

I'm sure his brand of 'science' is a hoot.

And if the information is useful why not give it to us straight? Why embed
it in a story that only provokes ridicule 4000 years later?

I wouldn't say the story does - after all, it's just like the Greek
and other myths.

What is ridiculed is the fact that people don't just take it seriously
themselves, they want everybody else to so they attack the science
which shows it to be nonsense and try to get it taught as fact.

The lunacy is dangerous.
