Next the teacher will playing Beatle records in class...backwards! "Did you hear class it says 'God Is Dead'?"

And she'll make the class sing along John Lennon hymns

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for todayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...

Grow up without a lot of useless ideological baggage, be able to think,
have a much improved life without a lot of guilt.

Funny how fundamentalists of all striped agree on that one point--the
other guy's viewpoint is "a poisonous affliction". And after a while
they decide to remove the poison. Hence ISIS or Stalinism.

...the Catholic church I attended as a kid had little donation
envelopes with your name on it printed up. At the end of the year,
they would post a list of names on the church bulletin board showing
how much each member had donated. Don't know exactly what their
ulterior motive was but it was quite embarrassing and humiliating for
those who were too poor to give much money.

Athiest: kid, here's the evidence and science, make up your own mind
Theist: WORSHIP GOD OR GO TO HELL! HE'S REAL 'COS I SAY HE IS
Basicly, you're telling impressionable kids that they'll be TORTURED unless they believe. If a priest threatened he would torture them, it would really make the headlines; but it is OK for God to threaten a innocent child with torture. God of love?

She was a Christian, or are your reading abilities impaired? Oh, that's right, you don't read very well. All you did was watch FOx's propaganda video.

From: http://www.snopes.com/2015/10/28/katy-texas-god-assignment-controversy/

The teacher is distraught by this incident, as some commentary has gone as far as to vilify her without knowing her, her Christian faith, or the context of the classroom activity. Still, this does not excuse the fact that this ungraded activity was ill-conceived and because of that, its intent had been misconstrued. As a result, the activity will no longer be used by the school, and the teacher has been advised and appropriate personnel action will be taken. The school regrets any misconceptions that may have resulted from this teacher-developed classroom activity and assures its school community that the religious beliefs of all students and staff are welcomed and valued at West Memorial Junior High.

A seventh grader in Katy, Texas says her schoolteacher handed out an
assignment requiring that she and the rest of the class deny God exists,
reports local station KHOU.

The actual story before the religious idiots in Texas got a hold of it is
far more benign than the bullshit that fox is trumpeting. And of course
the Texas governor found a way to get his name in the paper as supporting
"religious freedom."

The class assignment was to differentiate between unsubstantiated claims
and claims based on fact.

Would have been a lot more fun if the questions progressed --

Fact? Assertion? Opinion?

Zeus is king of the gods.

Buddha is a prophet of god.

Allah is god and Mohammed his prophet.

Jesus is god.

The children did learn a lesson. Not a valuable lesson maybe, but a
lesson...

1. Don't fuck with religious zealots.
2. You don't need proof where god is concerned.
3. If you can claim your religious freedom is being curtailed, you will
achieve fame and get invited to meet the governor of Texas.

Just a further comment, it's not atheists who are the problem, it's you moronic godbots who want to shove your religion in everyone's face and force us to endure your inane groveling before your imaginary spirit.

Children are born atheist so that's not a problem.

Where do you think children get their religious ideas?

This is old news that fox just now picked up and it is from a group with
little credibility who had a religious agenda.

Actually that's exactly what the objection is to - teaching them some critical thinking so they can make up their own minds.
