Not to mention that any such "outside intervention" would have had to be 
on a scale rather different and orders of magnitude larger than they 
imagine.  This alleged outside agency would have had to import a 
planet's worth of water in order to drown the Earth entirely.  Then it 
would have had to magically remove all that excess water.  And after 
that this mystery agency would have had to go around removing all 
evidence for such an intervention.
