They are about 1 meter, maybe longer.

You normally wouldn't have USB anything connected to the blades.  If you
do need to (such as to use  the (supplied) external DVD drive to install
software) you have to plug in the special supplied "octopus" in the front
of the blade.  The octopus includes 2 USB ports and gives you a total of
only about 6 inches.  I guess that in many server rooms, you're facing a
solid wall of servers and they felt you may need longer than the supplied
DVD USB cable length to reach somewhere to put the DVD drive on.

I hate them, too.
They're actually HP-branded but made by Monster.
I don't know why HP would pay the ridulous Monster price for them.
