path = '/home/gyoung/hacks/pathhack/foo.py'
parts = [part for path, part in iter(lambda: os.path.split(path), ('/', ''))]
parts.reverse()
print parts

But that's horrendously ugly.  Just write a generator with a while
loop or something.
