What appears to be being missed is that the Russians always play a very long looking forward game. They are almost to a man (includes women) superb chess players. I point out that the US response of providing advanced weapons (in huge quantities) to Ukraine was predictable, leaving the western nations very lean on weaponry. When if it appears advantageous to the East, China attacks unexpectedly in what then promises to be a short war not giving time necessary for the west to rearm. This is supposed to be a newsgroup of elite thinkers. Still none of them appears to know what they're talking about in relatively simple matters. What can be expected of them regarding complex matters? What happens next has a lot to do with what the spies report to the eastern leadership. It isn't wartime, so selling of information is not a crime in the west.
