It's not for things that are obviously higher risk.  They've come up with new stuff, not related to driving history.  There isn't a statistical basis.  At least not a legitimate one.  It's just an excuse to raise rates and increase profits.

Interest rates should depend on real legitimate risks, not something somebody made up to raise profits.

We have ridiculous anti-trust enforcement in this country.  So, if company A discovers a new one to fleece customers, all the other companies will follow suit.  The public has no real alternative but to pay the money and create the recxord profits.

Likewise, companies claim fake 'expenses' as a way to pad pricing.

This is being done in many places; even if no criminal charges are involved, and the incident was totally non-school related.  A lot of parents and community members are on a law 'n order kick and demand it of their school districts.  (The same people who demand drug dogs search kids' backpacks, clothes, and lockers.  The same people also demand that students who send inapporpriate photos of themselves get criminally prosecuted for violatin porn laws.)
