So it has the same 'sex' connector on both ends (IIRC, male). It can be used to transfer data from one computer to the other. The most common software to make that possible, was Laplink, hence Laplink cable. Often the software was included/sold with the cable. It was very useful in the time when 'real' (i.e. LAN) networking was not available/feasible/too_expensive/<whatever>. It was the time when the only off-line storage was floppies/diskettes (or later ZIP drives). So how could you get 'large' (i.e. more than a few MB) amounts of data to another computer?
