If that's what you think he made clear, then you both have a problem. 
Unless he opted to go portable, which wouldn't be the generic one as 
downloaded from Mozilla, because that's not portable, yet. You have a 
little work to do once you get it to make it portable. It was kind of 
you to toss hime a life preserver though, but I still think the 
audience noticed he fell overboard there and can't swim, Snit. Still, 
kind of you to try.

In it's default state, it'll use the same already existing profile as 
his distro copy is already using. This could be an issue if the 
newest release from mozilla changes the profile configuration to 
'update it'; as sometimes does happen. That could potentially render 
the distro version unable to use it until the distro version is 
updated as well. It can also lead to profile corruption if both 
browsers are being used at the same time, they don't do a good job of 
actively sharing the same profile.
