The problem is not that one desktop is different from another, or even that
a single desktop is inconsistent within itself... the problem is that the
*choice* to have a desktop which is (even mostly) consistent with itself is
not an easy thing to achieve and you have to give up quite a bit to get
there. Then again, the situation has improved a lot over the last few years
... and it will only continue to get better.

This is what I have been advocating for and speaking about for years... only
to have you and other COLA "advocates" say this means I am anti-choice (but
what choice? You could never say), do not understand the open source
ecosystem (even though my predictions have largely come true), or am
anti-Linux.... all sorts of bizarre attacks and insults.

And time is showing I am right... at least mostly. I am sure there are
details I was wrong about... but I surely was a lot more spot on than most
of the "advocates". As I have noted, at least in this area the "advocates"
have a history of not knowing much about the open source ecosystem.
