OK, I see where you are going with this. You think that minimal adjustment is the aim. I was thinking that some class of programs using C's complex numbers could be made valid C++ with a fee macros and an #if or two, but it's been years since I wrote any such code and, anyway, you are suggesting a much narrower concept of "subset". By the way, are you basing this suggestion on some inside information (a paper, a private conversation...) or is it speculative? -- Ben.
