In the above I was right... and Marek later adopted my view. Linux is tied to
each of those things but, by itself, it is not those things.

I do not even recall the threat... but he did feel bad for his actions and
sent my wife a laptop (which I ended up with when we got a newer one). I still
have it in the house, though the battery is swollen and I do not use it.
