That is annoying.  I can't see Slack 64 or 32 going onto an embedded
system, I would have thought all machines running it would need the
basic USB human interface stuff - so why have it as modules when it
creates trouble with initrd etc?

I don't like initrd as I've only got it to work once, and that was by
stuffing _everything_ in it making a very slow boot.  So I may be biased.
