I'm still running 14.0 and I was suprised that when I plugged a USB 
keyboard in, it worked with no need to change anything, even the 
keyboard's touchpad worked.  I was surprised, but on the other hand, it 
makes sense.

I think it was 14.0 and not the previous release (and if it was the 
previous release, I'm surprised it changed).  This is the standard kernel, 
I never got around to making a custom one or using initrd.
