Each version of Windows was installed to and always has had a system drive letter of C: The only difference between hibernation working and not is the BIOS HD order. It might be, probably is, that the there is some setting in the Registry or elsewhere which contains a full, hard path to the hibernation file rather than a drive letter - something like disk0/rdisk0/partition1, but I've not been able to find it. I tried disabling hibernation, dumping the entire registry, reenabling again, dumping again, and then comparing the two dumps line by line.
