I would have thought that the "correct" philosophical answer might be
along these lines: how do we know that existing is any more bother than
not existing?
I mean, it may seem that way, but that's only an assumption we make on
the observation that, in the universe as we have it, gathering together
matter and energy costs time and effort. In the abstract situation in
which
the choice between the Universe existing or not existing was made,
perhaps
the matter and energy the Universe is made out of didn't cost anything.
