The SA was a 'proletarian' army of thugs.

Once the Nazi were in power, the working class was of no use anymore and 
the SA actually a threat to the power of the Nazi-party.

It is actually interesting, that the SA had Remmington pistols made in 
USA and second hand uniforms, which were used in the 2nd Boer war before 
by the British.

They had to go and leave the power to the Nazi party and not to lower 
class thugs.
