How these people actually came to East prussia is a question. But possibly they came from the same source as the Kieva Rus, possibly a little north. The Germans of that time were kind of aristocratic settlers and belonged to the so called 'Deutscher Orden', while the population of the region spoke kind of Polish. And until Prussia was wiped from the map, the East-Prussians didn't speak proper German but something called 'water-polish'. TH
