[Hey, it's made from steel, ergo on-topic...]

I'm seeking sources for 35mm DIN rail. Can't find any local [DC
area] and the shipping charges places charge on 1 meter lengths
is insane.

Anyone found a better way?

Amazon Prime has din rails, free shipping.

It's amazing how much electronic stuff Amazon has.

Priced them, but found the free shipping wasn't when you looked
up the prices elsewhere. (Exception: if I bought ten metre-long pieces...)

Agreed.
And hardware....
Quantity one nylon screw @ HD, $0.61
whereas 100 @ Amazon are $2.90

I ran into this problem as well.

Spend $50 on other stuff at zoro.com and it ships for free.

They come with nice sturdy mailing tubes as a bonus.

Never heard of them, but solved the issue by checking at local
W.W. Grainger. It's $7.60 for a meter-long AL rail.

About half of the items that I've bought from Zoro are in Grainger's
packaging. That makes a lot of sense, since it is owned by Grainger.

I believe shipping is free for orders over $50, otherwise a flat $10.
