What would they care what I think of them?! They're the ones who have my money now! We engaged in a fair exchange of goods on the open market which is what at least I was under the impression American free-market capitalism was all about. What does my internal emotional state have to do with anything? Has the Cato Institute written anything about this? I can't imagine who would feel it was "ugly" or for what possible reason they'd give a shit what some snowflake leftist thought of them after banking his paper.

Not so much that they came out in droves, it's just that the wingnuts all came out to vote the same way they always do, while non-wingnuts/anyone who votes their conscience rather than whatever dung the usual primary process serves up from time to time found themselves disgusted with the whole mess and either went third-party, or didn't bother to show. Not wanting to vote for Hillary is a perfectly understandable sentiment - hey, I didn't pick her and she'd not have been my choice if anyone had asked. My impression from the primary process is that both parties are in serious doo-doo from a direction standpoint. A washed up ranting game-show host was literally the best option? I know true believers are very impressed with the tough-talkin' act and don't care much what the rest of the world thinks, but America does have enemies and they must've been chuckling their asses off on election night.

EE work has become less fun since we had this massive consolidation. For most high-tech non-special-market chips there are only two suppliers left, TI and AD. And that shows. I am trying to get a support answer from AD for about a week -> nada, zip. They just don't seem to care anymore. TI was often worse, they just cast the question off to the "forums". Needless to say, there was no meaningful answer either. -- Regards, Joerg http://www.analogconsultants.com/

Likewise logic. Processors? DSPs? DACs? ADCs? We get great support from TI, ADI, particularly. There are a half dozen people at TI who will jump at the first phone call (one analog/power FAE dedicated to our site). ADI has an FAE who has worked several Christmas vacations with us to get shows ready. Others are just a phone call away. It's all about ROI.

OK, here's your bone. pat-pat-pat > You really are a sloppy reader. That was _another_ project and you do not know anything about how many of those chips will be in each of the new units but, as usual, blurt out an opinion. Besides, even if it were only 50k/year on a $3 product, not being willing to invest 10 minutes in pre-sales support and leaving $150k/year in sales times 20 years on the table is not smart. If you are able to calculate the ROI for those 10mins now. Which I sometimes doubt. -- Regards, Joerg http://www.analogconsultants.com/

It's never 10 minutes on one question that guarantees $150K and no, $150K/year isn't a lot of money from one customer. Obviously they don't think it's worthwhile, either. And they're doing the counting.
