If you type this into your web browser www.Google.co.uk you will be on a page known as a "search engine" You can then type in any query and you will get a list of pages where you should find an answer. Then you can do your own research.

What is wrong with people that they can't just either help or not post at all. I've always found things like this to be a major PITA. If someone had been down that road before I would love to hear what they found. Google is not the panacea to every product search. It is often a major PITA returning more ads than listings. I often go to distributors' pages first. Digikey is a good choice. For electronic parts they have the best search capability out there although it can use improvement of course and recently seems to have taken some steps backwards combining search parameters that should be separate such as max and min power supply voltages. I could be wrong, but I don't recall these being combined into a single field which makes it very difficult to select the appropriate choices from the now huge list. But bezels don't have a voltage rating, so maybe Digikey would be a good place to search. -- Rick C. - Get 1,000 miles of free Supercharging - Tesla referral code - https://ts.la/richard11209

I'm not very active in this newsgroup, but have been using Usenet since UUCP days, circa 1985. I started at Mouser and Digi-key, and used Mr. Google as well. For example, DigiKey got me to Display Vision who makes displays. They offer some actual bezels but way too big. (I need ~35mm*20mm for the display I am considering.) The general searches get me a S/S+N ratio of about 0.1+18j - the issue is dominated by sellers of laptop replacement bezels, followed by multiple 2x16 display ones. I've chased dozens of links but not found one to a manufacturer of same, someone offering many sizes. That's my goal. -- A host is a host from coast to coast.................wb8foz@nrk.com & no one will talk to a host that's close.......................... Search engines typically deliver consumer information, suitable for mass
markets. Search engines heavily favor retail advertiser's websites, and
retailers typically pitch their best selling products.
Human-to-human communication is virtually mandatory for specialized,
niche markets. For instance, keeping information hidden from search
engines provides an easy way for Class A manufacturers to comply
with portions of FCC Part 15:
Is the marketing of the device restricted in such a manner
that it is not sold to residential users?

This place is like the monkey house at the zoo. Then there are the favorites. While this guy is asking for the advice of others regarding an item that is not at all easy to search for and gets a lot of crap about it, Larkin has asked for pretty much the same thing in another thread looking for an 8 pin MCU as if THAT were hard to search on and gets tons of positive responses. People fall over themselves to help him. I know why Phil is being a prick about it... he doesn't know any better. But why are the other monkeys jumping up and down over this? The guy didn't ask anyone to solve his bezel problem for him. He asked if anyone knew of a "Amce Bezel Co" that would be a good source of such product. That's one problem with the Internet. We usually buy a polycarb sticker that paves over our entire front panel, and includes a clear window for the LCD and little frosty circles to let discrete LEDs shine through. But the setup costs for that make it impractical for small volumes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/j3fycoyhpus0vpc/a4.jpg?raw=1 -- John Larkin Highland Technology, Inc The best designs are necessarily accidental.

FWIW, Elecraft opts to protect their LCD panel with a simple, custom-
fit, rectangular, rounded corner, thin Plexiglas cover held in place by
four screws:

Like light pipes and knobs and spacers and such, very expensive. And rarely exactly what you want. Working out if what they've got can be made to serve your purpose is time-consuming, which is a non-financial expense. And it's usually not as expensive as getting what you need made in small volumes. Making one-offs or just a couple of units has different constraints from even small volume production. John Larkin's attitude to getting special purpose transformers wound for low volume application is pretty negative, which implies that he doesn't like spending the time required to get exactly what he wants in small volume from specialist suppliers, which is such a non-financial expense. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

Like you, I am a little surprised there aren't hundreds of bezels readily available out there for the Arduino crowd use. If you find any good bezels for typical 2x16 LCD displays, please share with the group. An alternative, if you can justify it in volume, or if you're just wanting a "high-ish quality", professional-looking demo unit to drum up some sales leads, you could maybe consider... Link: https://www.jrpanel.com/ We use them quite a bit for a couple of our products, and for prototyping. Which reminds me, now that that product is getting into the low hundreds, per order, might be time to shop it away from JRPanel. ? But for smaller, prototype runs, JR's pricing is pretty hard to beat. (?)

(?) Wow! A rational, respectful response. I was starting to think this group was completely incapable of this. Thanks for restoring my faith... in something. Not sure what it is since I know in general this group is beyond redemption. -- Rick C. -- Get 1,000 miles of free Supercharging -- Tesla referral code - https://ts.la/richard11209
