I agree dementia is not funny, although on > another forum I see caregivers using humor to help them cope with their > situation. Cursitor Doom and krw definitely do seem to be slipping into dementia. I'm inclined to blame Jim-out-of-touch-with-reality-Thompson's spectacular ignorance of the real world on childhood cultural deprivation, rather than anything extra going on at the moment, but thinking that Trump is anything other than a plausible creep is a bad sign. The "dementia thing" didn't come out of the blue, even if you hadn't noticed earlier references to it in comments about Cursitor Doom and krw. As far as I know, dementia isn't one of my current health problems - nobody has asked me who the current prime minster is, or what day of the week it is, which is the kind of question my mother had to deal with when my youngest brother - the medico - enrolled her in a prospective study of dementia in the elderly. It did pick up her incipient dementia about 18 months before she stopped being able to get the e-mail program on her computer to work for her. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney
