"... Bei Mercedes beschäftigte man sich jedoch schon seit den frühen 
1950er Jahren mit der Entwicklung eines Bremssystems, welches das 
Blockieren der Vorderräder verhindert und damit das Fahrzeug während des 
Bremsvorgangs lenkbar bleiben lässt. Bereits 1970 war ein 
Blockierschutzsystem im Testeinsatz, das Daimler zusammen mit der Firma 
Teldix entwickelt hatte. Diese erste Generation enthielt Elektronik mit

ergaben sich allerdings grössere Probleme mit der Zuverlässigkeit, so

Digitaltechnik entwickelt. Das vor vier Jahrzehnten eingeführte ABS von 
Mercedes-Benz und Bosch bestand dann im Wesentlichen aus Drehzahlfühlern 
an beiden Vorderrädern und am Antriebskegelrad der Hinterachse, einer 
Hydraulikeinheit sowie einer elektronischen Steuerung. ..."
