Es ist richtig, dass dass die Zeile nur 76 Zeichen lang war (ohne CRLF).  
Trotzdem war sie damit sehr offensichtlich zu lang fürs Usenet.  Das liegt 
auch nicht primär an meinem langen Namen (25 Zeichen), sondern daran, dass 
darin überflüssigerweise Information reproduziert wurde (*41* Zeichen).  Im 
Usenet muss man immer mit langen Namen rechnen – wie Du ja nun gemerkt und 
offenbar auch verstanden hast.

Altlasten und DAU-Freundlichkeit bei µ$~1, und zumindest leichte

Eher nicht 17 Jahre lang, da das Problem offenbar nur mit Windows XP und 
Vista dauerhaft auftritt (wobei es sein kann, dass es auch vorher schon 
auftrat, und 2013 der KB-Artikel den EOLs angepasst wurde; da müsste man mal 
im Internet Archive stöbern).

Windows XP benutz(t)e ich privat nur per WINE, und Vista Business SP2 läuft 
bei mir (auf dem anderen Notebook) so selten (inzwischen nur noch zum 
Scannen, da es AFAIK keinen kompatiblen Linux-Treiber für den Scanner 
gibt¹), dass es wahrscheinlich ist, dass ich dort zum Zeitpunkt der 
Zeitumstellung um 02:00 MEZ/03:00 MESZ(!) gerade entweder Debian GNU/Linux 
oder gar nichts laufen hatte (d. h. geschlafen habe oder nicht zuhause war 
oder beides).

Damit können wir aber praktisch ausschliessen, dass Windows XP/Vista 
*grundsätzlich* Probleme mit UTC hat; eher gibt es damit nur Probleme, wenn 
Windows zum Zeitpunkt der Zeitumstellung gerade *läuft*.
