referring to the new Mac Pros as the ‘Soda Can’ Mac Pros is being
descriptive, not trolling. They look like large soda cans. Large, very
expensive, soda cans which lack space for storage. There would be a reason
why they’ll pry my old cheese grater Mac Pro out of my cold, dead hands.

You really need to get out more and to stop worshiping at the feet of Jony
Ive. The soda can Mac Pros were a mistake. Apple is, allegedly, going to
replace them with a new design in two-three years, not that I’m holding my
breath waiting.

apple didn't say 2-3 years.

they said 'not this year'.

it's far too early to commit to any time frame, especially if they're
relying on intel's schedules.

correct. Some people have estimated the arrival to be 2019-2020 or so. Others
say 2018. One deluded in-duh-vidual gushed about December this year. I go
with the more rational people: 2-3 years. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

It's obviously both. You're just joining in on the juvenile "fun". More
importantly, JF Mezei makes it a *consistent* practice to sling that
name as well as other juvenile derogatory names around whenever he
refers to them. In fact, go ahead and show me a post from JF Mezei
referring to the newer model Mac Pros *without* resorting to such
juvenile antics. Pssst: I already know you can't. : )

That's a lie. The new models are actually much smaller and lighter than
previous Mac Pro models. They can easily sit on desks that wouldn't

Sure, sure. Meanwhile, those of us who have owned Mac Pros from the
beginning know well that Mac Pros have always been relatively expensive.

Also the new models consume less energy, which makes the cost of running
them *less* expensive than with previous models.

> which lack space for storage

Vocal minorities aside, the lack of extra internal storage space is
simply not a problem for many professionals. Many of us already store
our large files on external / networked RAID arrays anyway. This isn't
the supposed "show stopper" the fringe complainers make it out to be.

> There would be a reason why they’ll pry my old cheese grater Mac Pro

I haven't upgraded from my Mac Pro tower either, but not for most of the
bogus reasons you list above. I have no problem spending a good bit of
money for a beefy, fast workstation that I'll end up using for the next
five to eight years. Whether it happens to be heavy doesn't play a big
part in my purchasing decision either (thought lighter is always
better). The same goes for whether it has internal storage expansion,
since I already store my large content elsewhere externally.

There are only two things holding me back from replacing my current
Mac Pro tower with a newer model at the moment:

1. After upgrading the RAM, GPU, and switching to an SSD, my current Mac
Pro tower is *quite* speedy, even today. It's not quite gotten to the
point where I am regularly yearning for more speed. It's got more life
left in it.

2. The new models don't have upgradable GPU options, which is one of the
things that can extend the life of the machine. I'm hopeful that Apple's
upcoming redesign will bring back GPU expandability.

no, it’s not. They’re 10 inches tall and 6+ wide. That’s large.

yes, but older ones could be expanded.

it’s a problem for _me_. I’m one of the ‘vocal minority’ who will
simply never buy a trashcan Mac Pro in very large part because they have
limited internal storage.

it is for me. No internal storage? My credit card stays in my wallet.

good for you. Some of us prefer to keep our data local.

Yes it's a lie. Not only were previous Mac Pro towers are 20 inches
tall, 20 inches deep, and 8 inches wide (hint: *much* larger), but the
new model Mac Pro is much smaller than *most* PC towers on the market.
Time to eat your words again: "Your bias is showing".

Yes, and in the minority you will stay. Meanwhile the rest of the
professional world has no problem with lack of internal storage
expansion.

I have no problem waiting. Note: I'm not the one complaining. That'd be
you. Are you done foaming at the mouth yet? : )

And won't be getting any new OS releases.

And when you MacPro fails (as mine did), you are stuck replacing it with
whatever is available from Apple.

I'm running El Capitan, which is still receiving security updates. And I
could run Sierra on it if I wanted. This is not a problem for the next
couple years, at which point I may replace it.

No, I'm not limited to buying a new Mac Pro at all. I could easily
repair components on it myself, which I've already done. I can find
parts rather cheaply for it online. I could buy a 2008-2009 Mac Pro for
a couple hundred bucks online too.

Sierra not supported on 2009 or older machines.

Not a problem for me. Apple's not stopping me from running it if I see fit.
And I'd get all of the updates Apple puts out for Sierra as well.

And yet, many people are able to get it to run just fine. All you need
is a bootloader.

But yes, it is not supported. It does work.

First of all, we've already been through this with you a year or two ago
when you posted this same basic post and then descended into your usual
blithering idiocy when you were told that you could not rip audio CDs
via the "Remote Disc" function in OS X.

Remembering everything I post = STALKING.

It was June 2016 when my origina Pro dies and I had to buy new one
without optical drive. I may have asked generic question about optical
drives, but I had never tried/tested "remote devices" on OS-X so
couldn't have asked about it.

Since I probably have spend more on Apple equipment sicne 1986 than you
have in your lifetime, it is quite gratuitous of you to call me a troll.

Are you paid by Microsoft ?

No. It equals HAVING A DECENT MEMORY.

So you're simultaneously arguing that he remembered what you posted...
