That's a lie. The new models are actually much smaller and lighter than
previous Mac Pro models. They can easily sit on desks that wouldn't
accommodate the larger former models.

Sure, sure. Meanwhile, those of us who have owned Mac Pros from the
beginning know well that Mac Pros have always been relatively expensive.

Also the new models consume less energy, which makes the cost of running
them *less* expensive than with previous models.

Vocal minorities aside, the lack of extra internal storage space is
simply not a problem for many professionals. Many of us already store
our large files on external / networked RAID arrays anyway. This isn't
the supposed "show stopper" the fringe complainers make it out to be.

I haven't upgraded from my Mac Pro tower either, but not for most of the
bogus reasons you list above. I have no problem spending a good bit of
money for a beefy, fast workstation that I'll end up using for the next
five to eight years. Whether it happens to be heavy doesn't play a big
part in my purchasing decision either (thought lighter is always
better). The same goes for whether it has internal storage expansion,
since I already store my large content elsewhere externally.

There are only two things holding me back from replacing my current
Mac Pro tower with a newer model at the moment:

1. After upgrading the RAM, GPU, and switching to an SSD, my current Mac
Pro tower is *quite* speedy, even today. It's not quite gotten to the
point where I am regularly yearning for more speed. It's got more life
left in it.

2. The new models don't have upgradable GPU options, which is one of the
things that can extend the life of the machine. I'm hopeful that Apple's
upcoming redesign will bring back GPU expandability.
