Is there a way to find out? I didn't see it listed in mac OS Sierra
v10.12's System Information.

Thank you in advance. :)

no.

as of today, the *only* mac that has usb-c ports is the 12" retina
macbook (not pro).

that is likely to change tomorrow with the new product announcements.

that's not a mac and it's for service, not end users.

Assuming you really want an answer to the question "is there a way to
find out?":

Yes, there is actually a way to find out: look it up on the net like the
rest of us do. A quick web search for "apple specs macbook retina
mid-2015" finds several places to find what you want:

<https://support.apple.com/kb/SP719>

...or:

<http://www.everymac.com>

...or there's even an app that runs on macOS or iOS that will let you
look things like this up:

<http://mactracker.ca>

...and as shown by the many search results, the list goes on.

Will you actually *use* this information in the future to look up simple
specs like this, or will you take the lazy route and ask your Usenet
secretaries here to look it up for you instead? My money's on the
latter. : )

Ant's GoogleFoo is even worse than mine.

I'd spend 30 minutes trying to find something and go ask my boss for
advice. He'd type something in, unrelated to what I was entering, and
BANG--there'd be multiple hits.

This is the second boss that's been this way which leads me to think my
Googlefoo isn't very good.

Then again, Ant just seems to give up and ask us directly.

We should charge consulting rates.

If you actually mean "USB-C", then you don't need System Information
... just look at the ports on the side. USB-C is a different shape and
size to the established USB ports. That's why you need an adaptor to be
able to plug in things like normal USB keyring drives. The only real
reason for the change is Ive's obsession with making everything thinner
and thinner.  :-\

If by "USB-C" you really meant "USB 3", then you do need System
Information or Apple's spec sheet. You can't necessarily tell from the
shape / size of the port.

no, the reason is because the entire industry is moving to usb-c
because it's *far* more capable than usb-a/b.

Put the question IN THE POST, not just in the headers.

Only the MacBook has USB-C currently. This will change tomorrow.
