    Switching back to Mail from ANOTHER DESKTOP (also called workspace 
or space) causes Mail to check for new mail. I have set Mail’s 
preferences to check for new mail once per hour. The upgrade did not 
change that setting, but, obviously, that setting is being ignored.
    This behavior is new to 10.11 and did not happen under 10.9 or 10.10.
