If you need to erase an SSD (or USB key, SD, flash card) securely:

- Delete the files and empty the trash.
- Fill the remainder of the card (which could be the whole thing) with 
random numbers.

You shouldn't be doing this so often that it would affect the life of 
the device; OTOH, if the data you need to destroy is that important, 
then you won't care when you need to buy another one.
